Without a doubt, one of the most important elements in any bedroom is bedding. It influences not only the overall aesthetic of the room but also the quality of your rest.
When choosing bedding sets, try to match them to your interior style. Pay attention to the dominant colors and, of course, the fabric itself.
The term "cotton fabric" covers a wide range of materials, from medium to heavy-weight cottons with different finishes and uses. Cotton absorbs moisture well and does not create static electricity. It’s an ideal fabric for products that come into direct contact with the skin, as it allows the body to breathe and helps prevent overheating.
Cotton is also very durable and resistant to tearing. However, it wrinkles easily. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause cotton to yellow and gradually break down. Humidity and polluted air can accelerate this process. On the bright side, cotton is easy to wash, and stains are removed without much effort.
This fabric can withstand high ironing temperatures. White cotton can be washed at up to 95°C, while colored fabrics should be washed at no more than 60°C. For dark fabrics, the recommended temperature is up to 40°C. For ironing, keep the temperature below 150°C.
Unfinished or untreated fabrics washed in warm water tend to shrink. White cotton can be bleached with chlorine-based products and dry cleaned using regular solvents, but all of this shortens the fabric’s lifespan.
Canvas is a plain-weave cotton fabric known for its durability. Bedding made from canvas lasts a long time. It’s strong, absorbs moisture well, is hygienic, breathable, and easy to wash. However, canvas wrinkles easily and is not the most drapey fabric.
Satin is a very dense and soft fabric made from combed long-staple cotton, with a silky shine. It’s more resistant to wear and holds color well. Satin is also easier to iron, making it a great choice for those who dislike ironing. Traditional satin is 100% cotton, but you can also find satin blended with polyester. While the blend is stronger, it absorbs moisture less effectively.
Jersey is soft, drapes well, hugs the mattress nicely, and doesn’t wrinkle much. The downside is that jersey bedding can look slightly untidy and tends to stretch out over time. However, jersey works perfectly for fitted sheets because it stretches to fit the mattress snugly.

To keep your bedding colors vibrant for longer, add a splash of vinegar to the first wash along with your detergent. The acidity helps lock in the colors, keeping them bright and fresh for a long time. This trick works well for clothing too.
